Reference for Symmetric Schouten-Nijenguis bracket

[edit]

The article mentions that there is a version of the Schouten–Nijenhuis bracket, but provides no clear references for it (retrospectively it is clear that the 1940 paper of Schouten does contain direct formulas for these, but this is not clear for those of us beginning our education in Tensor Calculus and those of us unable to read German). After digging around on the internet, I found what appears to be a nice publication by L. K. Norris (http://www4.ncsu.edu/~lkn/MyResearchPapers/reprints/SchoutenNijenhuis.pdf) that discuss the Schouten-Nijenjuis Brackets and provides the same formulas (see (1.4) for example).

I would like (at the very least) to add this reference to the list of references, but I shall wait until after my course on Tensor Calculus so I can make a more informed decision about the appropriateness of this reference. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 131.172.86.227 (talk) 02:17, 15 January 2015 (UTC)[reply]
