This article needs some improvement as some of the interpretation is lacking evidence. Also, there is very little mention of the patron's role in this work. It should be noted that Ghirlandaio's 'interpretation' of the life of St. Francis differs dramatically from that of Giotto and other established precedents. It was very bold of Ghirlandaio to break tradition in this way and shows the influence of his patron in choosing the stories of St. Francis' life to be depicted. The entire of life of St. Francis was been 'subverted' to serve the interests and status of the patron, and I think the article needs to reflect this more. The section on 'Resurrection of the Boy' needs to be supported by references since I don't think it is very accurate. The current consensus among scholars is that this fresco is a tribute to the sons lost by Sassetti. Also a list of books/articles should be added. I've done some research in this area and will attempt to clean up the article in time. --KeithatET 01:52, 10 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
