A change to Wikipedia allocation of article space to controversies

[edit]

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

It would set a good precedent for the editors of this page 2 :

Free Mr Sarver of the antisemitism (not anti any religion : antisemitism) by reducing the percentage share of the controversies section

- Sarver bought Suns 2004 ... I do not know him at all (just learned his name)

- He made terrible things? No he did terrible mistakes ! And abused his position of power (it is appropriate to say that)

- The motivation of this talk page contribution is to anon suggest to wikipedia that the emphasis on negative aspects of a persons total life identity - is bad for wikipedia . Or in plain english not legalese : Shrink the controversies sections . Former Suns owner Saver paid his for being an ass and bad guy : he had to sell .

The literal use of the N-Word

[edit]

The use of the literal N-Word slur on this page seems problematic for several reasons:

- Most (if not all) the newspaper articles mentioning Robert Sarver's behavior do not mention literally this slur.

- In the very context of Robert Sarver WP page, it is not a direct quote, therefore "the N-Word" term is probably the most appropriate. So Wikipedia not being censored is probably not a good argument in favor of the use of this racial slur

- This term is not only offensive, it is harmful for Afro-Americans and Black people in general. When they arrive on a page and see this word spelled out out of context they may feel harmed.

- We agree that there are some exceptions ant that the literal use of the slur is OK on some pages, example [1], other example [2], etc...

Edit: the section above was written before reading the official (and seemingly irrevocable) guidelines in regard to "offensive" wording... [to treat offensive material in articles] I keep the section for my own sanity, if another contributor wants to discuss it (or remove), feel free 209.35.2.2 (talk) 18:13, 17 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
