Professor

[edit]

The cited obituary from MIT refers to Dr O'Handley with no mention of a professorship. Unless he actually held one, this makes professor misleading outside of the US. He appears to have been a senior researcher who also taught classes and supervised research students.Musiconeologist (talk) 17:05, 24 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Authored many books

[edit]

The obituary mentions only one book, and the other MIT link is dead. The obituary does however mention "nearly 200 articles in refereed journals".

I've searched on WorldCat and found 46 book results, but many of them are either conference proceedings, or e-books that look more likely to be articles and reports made available in that format. The books mostly have multiple authors, so it's unclear without further follow-up what his contribution to them was—he could have been a main author or editor, or written a single chapter or section.

So I don't think authored many books is a good wording. I've left it for now though until I think of something better.
