Change of name

[edit]

German wikipedia says his family was forbidden to change their names, threatening them with death penalty; English wikipedia says they were ordered to do so. which version is true? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.73.75.99 (talk) 18:18, 28 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

No, the German wikipedia says "[...]wurde bei Androhung der Todesstrafe befohlen, ihre Namen zu ändern.[...]". This also translates to "...were ordered to change their names threatening them with death penalty". It's the same. 91.64.195.41 (talk) 05:28, 5 October 2012 (UTC)Nevermore[reply]

"drawn and quartered"

[edit]

The lede says he was executed by drawing and quartering with a link to that article. The paragraph "Torture and execution" describes something else, namely dismemberment. It seems that the second is correct, given the rest of the article. Am I correct in surmising that the lede is incorrect? --Richardson mcphillips (talk) 02:47, 5 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It appears that the section for torture and execution describes what happened to him but also says they tried to "draw and quarter" him but were unsuccessful. By cutting tendons, they were successful in draw and quartering him. Jurisdicta (talk) 00:08, 5 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
