It might be worthwhile adding something on the origins of the (standard) Rayleigh distribution on this page and on the Rayleigh distribution page. I think the distribution came out of Lord Rayleigh's 1880 paper entitled, "The wave theory of light" but I don't know how to track that down. Dgianotti (talk) 19:23, 20 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]
