Sir Peter Abeles was also a key player in the 1989 Pilot Strike. With his underhanded tactics he ruthlesly pushed for the complete destruction of the Federation of Pilots, resulting in the worst indusrtial dispute ever in Australia. With the help of the PM and other assorted highly placed officials Sir Abeles was able to employ overseas pilots to brake the strike, and inturn put countless Australians out on the street. See [1]

He also witnessed the kirribilli agreement between Paul Keating and Bob Hawke. Surely worth a mention.
