Requested move

[edit]

Paliam → Paliath Achan – As discussed on AfD page. WP is not a genealogy database, but the Paliath Achans are notable.

  • Paliath Achan is a royal title, and it "means" the eldest male from Paliam family. So if you move it to Paliath Achan, the article will in turn have to describe this Paliam family.(Plus, the whole thing has to be rewritten). Therefore, in my opinion, this article should remain as such, and another article called Paliath Achan should be created. Besides, I dont see why this needs to be deleted as there are many other articles on royal families on Wikipedia. -- thunderboltza.k.a.Deepu Joseph |TALK14:40, 26 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The issue is that no-one could produce outside sources to use on a Paliam family article during the AfD, and in addition it runs afoul of WP:NOT a genealogy site. The Paliath Achan are a notable part of the family and the article should focus on them. If there is enough material to cover more family members it might make sense to start an article on them. ~ trialsanderrors 00:00, 27 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Added pictures and list of Paliath Achans

[edit]

I added pictures of the Paliam Naalukettu and a picture of a Paliath Achan. I need to find out which Valiyachan it actually is. I've also added a list of Paliath Achans --Vivin Paliath (വിവി൯ പാലിയത്) 18:21, 13 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Title of name list ... as all the male members of the family are Paliath Achan as their surnames are Achan and the senior most male member is called the VELLIA ACHAN. And the changes so forth. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Epistemphobic (talkcontribs) 22:47, 3 August 2011 (UTC)[reply]

caste

[edit]

hey the travancore state manual mentions that the paliath achan was a kiriyathil nair (Shudra he lowest in varnasrama tier) with the menon title (Head Clerk) ...he is refered to as the paliath menon in the same....perhaps tht could be added...Manu

btw the paliath achan must have been of some consequence even before he became prime minister of cochin...he is mentioned as a witness with other princes in the copper plate granted in the 3rd centry ad to the jews by the travancore king Manu

Added references

[edit]

I have added in-text references. I still need to get some more. Some are from newspaper clippings I remember seeing back home in India. I'll try and get the newspaper name, issue no., and date. --vi5in[talk] 20:19, 25 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.
