Fourth oldest mosque in india

[edit]

It may be the oldest mosque in tamil nadu but it is highly unfeasible that it should be the fourth oldest mosque in the world. this claim has no valid reference.Rukn950 (talk) 06:30, 27 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

When Badhan yemen governor arrived this place ? Its 628 AD.

That time only 3 mosques were build and used.

Kuba mosque Prophet mosque medina Masjid qiblathain 2 bible mosques. Badhan accepted Islam and came to this place before trench war. 4th oldest mosque is highly possible Bhl kht kilakarai (talk) 18:06, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Conflicting information

[edit]

I could not find any credible source which explicitly says the mosque was built in 628 CE. Instead most of them state it was constructed over a period, between 628-630 CE. So to say it is the oldest mosque in India would not be right. Most sources put Cheraman Masjid as India's first. So I am changing the opening sentence to something like this: Kilakarai Juma Masjid along with Cheraman Masjid in Kerala are considered the oldest mosques in India. Also the claim that it is the fourth oldest mosque in the world could not be verified so I have changed it to "one of the mosques". In this mosque there is a inscription mentioned 2 mosques built one in Semmi east coast another in kalli west coast. Semmi is the place current kilakarai. Kalli is the place Calicut kodungalur. Regarding Cheraman mosque and Badhan mosque inscription is the evidence which is in this mosque. Kodungan is reffered as thennavan cheraman mosque situated in kodungalur it most similar to the king who went Pakka old name of mecca.which mentioned in this inscription Bhl kht kilakarai (talk) 18:14, 3 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
