Father-in-Law

[edit]

Normand MacLeod of MacLeod's father-in-law was Lord St John of Bletso. According to some sources he is numbered as the 13th Baron and not as the 14th. The Baron who died in 1817 and is usually numbered the 14th is the correct one. The discrepancy arises as a result of the writ of acceleration to the House of Lords granted to Oliver St John, 5th Baron St John of Bletso in 1641 as a result of which he is normally numbered as the 5th Baron despite predeceasing his father. The info on www.macleodgenealogy.org is incorrect.
