Current executive faculty -- not notable?

[edit]

It seems to me that the "Current executive faculty" section should come out since essentially all of these people are not notable. 67.164.125.7 (talk) 01:56, 1 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

A few small updates

[edit]

Hi there! This article for the NADA is a little outdated and lacking in detail about the organization. To help make this a better overview, I have a series of small edits to request, seeking to bring the existing information up-to-date and add some key information that is not currently included. As full disclosure: I have a financial COI as I am here on behalf of NADA as part of my work with Beutler Ink.

Addition of Infobox

To start with, there is no infobox for the article, so I've prepared the following that can be added to the page:

Infobox

Used Car Guide sale

Next, the article still mentions the "Used Car Guide", however this was sold in 2015. I'd like to propose the replacement of the following existing text, with a new sentence summarizing the sale:

Text to replace: NADA exists to provide automotive information and advocacy to three groups. Consumers are served by their NADA Guides which provide information about vehicle pricing for new, used, and classic automobiles in addition to motorcycles, boats, recreational vehicles, and manufactured homes. Related to this, the company regularly issues reports and press releases about the automotive market such as analysis of the hybrid car market.
New sentence: In mid 2015, NADA sold its 82-year-old "Used Car Guide" business to J.D. Power and Associates.[7]
Markup

In addition to the above edit, I propose the following change to wording in the Operations section to reflect the sale of the Used Car Guide:

Current text: NADA also serves dealers in two ways: by following pricing trends on new and used vehicles as well as providing an advocacy association to represent dealerships before the US Congress and other government agencies. In addition, to further consumer education regarding vehicle financing, NADA is a supporter of Americans Well-informed on Automobile Retailing Economics (AWARE).
Proposed updated text: NADA serves dealers by providing an advocacy association to represent dealerships before the US Congress and other government agencies. In addition, to further consumer education regarding vehicle financing, NADA is a supporter of Americans Well-informed on Automobile Retailing Economics (AWARE).

Also, reference #3 is a bad URL, so I suggest replacing with this alternative source that supports the information. Here's the markup for the citation:

<ref>{{Cite journal|url=http://www.autonews.com/article/20150930000100/FINANCE_AND_INSURANCE/309309996|title=Dealers, lenders teach the ABCs of finance|date=September 30, 2015|accessdate=December 12, 2016|first=Arlena|last=Sawyers|work=Automotive News}}</ref>
Annual convention

Finally, I'd like to request an addition to the Operations section to note the organization's annual convention. The convention is the organization's major annual event that is has run for over 40 years, making it—I believe—noteworthy for inclusion in the article:

New text: NADA has hosted an annual convention for more than 40 years.[8] The organization's 2007 convention attracted 30,000 participants.[9] NADA also presents yearly automotive forums in Los Angeles and New York.[10][11][12]

Due to my COI, I won't be making any edits to the article, so I'd like for editors to review what I've proposed above and make the edits if they seem reasonable. Please let me know if you have any questions at all or have any feedback. Thanks!

@16912 Rhiannon: I've added the infobox per your request. For future reference, non-free content is only allowed to be used in the article namespace per WP:NFCC#9, so please do not dispaly such content on article talk pages, etc. Also, please only upload a non-free file after its ready to be added to an article. Non-free files are required to be used in at least one article per WP:NFCC#7 and can be be deleted per WP:F5 when they aren't.
As for the rest of your requests, I think it would be better to break them up into indvidual requests instead of combining them as you did. You titled the section "A few small updates", but it seems to be much more than that. -- Marchjuly (talk) 04:29, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for your help with the infobox, Marchjuly. And of course you're correct about including the logo on the Talk page, I had forgotten that when I posted my request and I will be more careful in future to comment out and call that out in my request. Re: splitting out the rest of the updates, they are actually quite small once you get into them, but I understand how it might seem more gathered all together here. I'll separate it out and hopefully someone can take a look. Thanks 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 16:36, 20 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Update re: Used Car Guide sale

[edit]

Hi all, per my request above, I'm working on behalf of NADA as part of my work at Beutler Ink and have some updates to suggest for this article. As I have a financial conflict of interest, I will not be making edits to the article myself and hope others will review my proposed edits and make them if they look ok.

Suggested addition re: annual convention

[edit]

Hi again, per my requests above, I am here on behalf of NADA as part of my work at Beutler Ink and have some suggestions to update this article. Due to my COI, I will not edit the article directly and hope an editor will review and make the changes if appropriate.

I'd like to request an addition to the Operations section to note the organization's annual convention. The convention is the organization's major annual event that is has run for over 40 years, making it—I believe—noteworthy for inclusion in the article:

New text: NADA has hosted an annual convention for more than 40 years.[2] The organization's 2007 convention attracted 30,000 participants.[3] NADA also presents yearly automotive forums in Los Angeles and New York.[4][5][6]

Proposing expansion of this article

[edit]

Hi again! Following up on my requests above (thanks again to Dormskirk for reviewing and making those edits), I've been working on an expanded draft article to improve this page further.

You can see the full draft in my user space here and you can see a comparison of the draft with the current article in this diff

As I mentioned in my previous request, the current article is lacking detail about the organization, so I've worked to provide a neutral overview of NADA's mission, history, and activities. Key updates:

  • The NADA website is used as a source throughout the current article, which also includes non-functioning URLs, so I've worked to improve sourcing throughout
  • The proposed Overview section describes who the organization represents, the American Truck Dealers division, and the annual convention, which has attracted many notable guests over the past 40 years
  • The History section provides much more detail about the organization's activities, which is severely lacking in the current article
  • I've reworked the Charitable activities section
  • Finally, I've integrated details about Hillary Clinton into the NADA Show section since the payment for the keynote speech was not a campaign donation and does not fit under that current heading

Is there a neutral editor who is willing to review the draft and make the changes if appropriate? (Please note that I've hidden the logo and disabled categories for the draft in my userspace, but if an editor moves the whole draft across these will need to be fixed.) As always, I'm happy to discuss the draft and questions or concerns here or on my talk page. Thanks! 16912 Rhiannon (Talk · COI) 02:15, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Done. Best wishes. Dormskirk (talk) 21:40, 30 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]
