I don't wanna start ripping this page apart and remodeling it, but the centaurian race is obviously -significantly- different from a centaur.. the body has drastically un-equine anatomy, with that tail that looks .. perhaps cybernetic.. definitely a unique look, with human-leg-front-legs (that surely helped when there was an actual guy being photographed to make the sprites) and elbow spikes and hoof spikes, so ... really that's.. important. I think the creators were trying hard not to make him a regular centaur, but some twisted equivalent from outworld.... so the article shouldnt say 'he's a half man half horse centaur' when he's clearly not.

In the Mortal Kombat 4 comic book it states the race are called Centaurians not "Centaurs". Centaurians are half bull and half human while centaurs are half horse and half human.

They're referred to as Centaurs in Kung Lao's MK Gold ending. Shadaloo 02:52, 19 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You've got to remember, this is an Outwold race we're talking about, so their definition for a Centaur would be different from the Earth mythology of one. Take the Shokan, for example: they're supposed to be "half man, half dragon", but instead of being humanoid reptiles like the Dragon King (which is what most people would think of a half-human dragon), they end up being four-armed humanoids with Ninja Turtle hands and feet.SynjoDeonecros 05:19, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

?

[edit]

I think it's safe to take the question mark away from "Mortal Kombat: Armageddon" under Appearances now, he's been mentioned as included by several development staff.

I would say so.Merc25 17:03, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Motaro mka?

[edit]

the mka pic has not been confirmed as being motaro or not, it has just been assumed that it was him. note the lack of health bars so for all we know it could be KAK fighting goro, and this just a joke/publicity stunt on the part of the MKA dev team.Merc25 17:02, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It's identified in the original MKO news story as Motaro, with no hint of this being a guess by the author. Midway Boards admin Cinder started a thread about the image, with the title "About Motaro - Post all Motaro messages here" [1]. Members of the project community have told me that he is a reliable source. It can't be suggested that this is a prank on anyone's part, as it hasn't been proven as such. Until then, I believe this should be taken as accurate. RobWill80 18:27, 23 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't this change to Motaro effectively make him a minotaur instead of a centaur now?? Just wondering. -SaturnYoshi 06:53, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, but his race is still considered Centaurian until we here otherwise. EVula 17:32, 27 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]
There was a video that was released recently showing Motaro's ending, and it mentioned something about his bipedal state being a curse that may have been caused by some kind of Shokan 'treachery'. Not sure if the ending will change when it's released, but it would be interesting to see just what this 'curse' entails, and what the Shokan did to invoke it.SynjoDeonecros 05:19, 22 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Actualy I think calling him a satyr is more appropriate than a Minotaur 63.231.129.175 01:39, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Maybe theyll retcon him to be of the satyrian or minotaurian race. lawl. Making him 2-legged is a cheap way for him to fit easily in the fighting and fatality engine, in my opinion. It sucks, and it takes a lot away from the character's imposingness. --D-Gen 20:42, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well...maybe they'll give him 4 legs in the Wii version.

New Trivia

[edit]

Some updated trivia on Motaro. Interesting where they got the inspiration.

Mortal Kombat 3

[edit]

I own the game Mortal Kombat 3 and I know a lot about the game. What I add to the trivia on the Motaro page is no lie. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 61.9.126.41 (talk) 19:04, 23 February 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Question

[edit]

Does Motaro possess superhuman strength? I mainly ask this because of how far he's able to punch his opponent across the arena after grabbing them. What do you guys think?TheSneakyLizard 03:02, 31 July 2014 (EST)
