Michael Dillon (Sinologist)

[edit]

There is a Michael Dillon who wrote several books in Islam in China. I know I should bring this up on the RS noticeboard, but I will mention it here. Despite his credentials, he is sometimes unreliable. He makes spelling mistakes and blatant factual errors. Ma Anliang's son Ma Tingxiang was mispelled as Ma Tingran by him, also Pu Shougeng was mispelled as Pu Shoukeng, he claimed that the Kansu Braves assasinated Baron Kettler instead of Sugiyama Akira in the Boxer Rebellion, and one of his main sources for his book on Islam in China is just translating primary source documents and Bai Shouyi's oral legends about Hongwu's Generals.
