Ultimate Marauders

[edit]

Is the information stated correct? Can anyone confirm their identities already? They are shown in Ultimate Spider-man #91. They look more like cyborgs so one can presume they are actually based on the reavers team from the regular universe. As far as i know no name has been given. --Robje 08:13, 18 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

At least some previews described them as the Ultimate Reavers. That does seem to fit better.
Yeah, the actually never call themselves Marauders. They are referred to as Reavers throughout the whole storyline. So in other words they are Reavers and not Marauders at all.--Stranger Dan 09:53, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for Image:0. The Marauders.jpg

[edit]

Image:0. The Marauders.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

I rewrote the FCB into a publication history while adding several appearances that were missing and adding sources to many non-sourced statements. Also removing some info that doesn't involve the Marauders. I removed the unnecessary line up section; if the layman wants to know about the Marauders members, then he/she can just check the SHB were they are listed. Regarding the images you introduced, I personally prefer the comic cover showing the Marauders running. :) 71.194.32.252 (talk) 17:32, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
And regarding the roster... the infobox has always been intended to be a "nutshell" presentation that lacks any information beyond character names. There is also potential issues with long lists of character getting added at the bottom of the 'box. The 'box list is not going to have contextual information such as:
  • Information about character that do not have their own articles. Any information about such characters winds up being in the "team" article. While this isn't currently an issue with this article, some of the characters are in a grey area. It may be valid to merge some of them into other articles.
  • Position within the team, if there is any of relevance. This also includes noting characters associated with the team but no actually on the roster.
  • Comings and goings. This team has had roster changes that cannot be presented in the 'box. The only relevant place for that information is with in this article.
  • And for characters that do have their own articles, the in article list gives the reader an idea as to who/what the character is. This is a good thing as it doesn't put a reader in a situation of having to have one or more additional article open to have a rough understanding of the material in this one.

Infobox image

[edit]

Since this seems to have become a secondary issue to go to town on reverts...

Right now I believe we've got 2 options available for the infobox image:

(Any other options?)

Frankly, both have problems:

  • "Messiah Complex" is a dark, muddled mess with the only readily identifiable characters being Gambit and Sinister.
  • "Uncanny" omits Sinister, the signature character for the team. It's also the limited "original" line up.

That being said, "Uncanny" is also the clearer of the two. Lacking a better option, that is more important that one that has all the characters crammed in to an unidentifiable mass.

One last thought... Using two image to "cover all the members" is a stretch of minimal use point of the fair use policy. It may be that we'll need to leave it at the "core" characters.

Image:UncanX240.jpg per this edit? 71.194.32.252 (talk) 02:00, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's actually better than the internal panel for the same period. Even with the additional characters and the fact that it's the full cover. - J Greb (talk) 03:25, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That's why I pointed it out in the above section as my favorite. :) 71.194.32.252 (talk) 15:05, 10 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Mind if I add that one back in? 71.194.32.252 (talk) 19:59, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I'd hold off a bit longer, give everyone a chance to chime in. - J Greb (talk) 23:15, 11 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I'm ok with the Silvestri cover. --DrBat (talk) 01:40, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent. :) 71.194.32.252 (talk) 04:23, 13 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
