Frederick

[edit]

Frederick II is also known as Frederick I of Sicily (understandable, seeing he was in fact the first Frederick of Sicily). ρ¡ρρµ δ→θ∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 02:05, 11 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Re the Aragonese kings of Sicily, I wonder how we can make a distinction bewteen the the first two Aragonese kings, and then the period 1296 to Mary's death in 1402 when the kingdom was fairly independent, and from Frederick III (II) up to Mary, they were really as much Sicilian as they were Aragonese. Mary's marriage to Martin I (and her momentary loss of rule when she ascended the throne at a young age) effectively brought Sicily back under direct Aragonese rule, and from there Sicily ceases to have its own monarchs altogether. I know it is convenient to refer to the whole period as Aragonese, but those 120 years following the vespers are a bit more complicated than that. πίππύ δ'Ω∑ - (waarom? jus'b'coz!) 02:24, 3 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Viceroys

[edit]

Good job to whoever add much of the information, however I feel there should be an article List of viceroys of Sicily for the viceroys as they weren't actually Kings... I'll put them here on the talk if anyone wants to create such an article. I have done something similar on the List of monarchs of Naples article. - Gennarous (talk) 16:15, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Numerals

[edit]

In the list of Habsburgs that acted as kings of Sicily, Charles, the last of dinasty in Spain, appears as: 'Charles III'. He may have been the third Charles sitting in the Sicilian throne, but in Spain he was: 'Charles II', and he had the right of acting as king of Sicily by having inherited the rights from the kings of Aragon. Which number should prevail in this case, the one he had in Spain, 'Charles II', or the one appearing in the list: 'Charles III?. I'd support Charles II, as Sicily wasn't then an independent kingdom, but part of the territories where kings of Aragon, meaning kings of Spain, ruled. Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jgrosay (talkcontribs) 13:35, 26 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
