Disputes

[edit]

This article is little more than a one sentance "lions are baited" followed by anecdotes. This is not an encyclopedic treatment of the subject. The article needs to be either rewritten or stubbified. Hipocrite - «Talk» 15:51, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have read your User page, which clearly states you are on a self described mission to turn Wikipedia into simple English, that is not going to happen with this article. Do not remove cited information or I will report it as vandalism. Other information you deleted adds context to the article, it should remain. Chessy999 (talk) 11:42, 23 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Would somebody else revert MisterSheik constant reverts, so he knows to stop, thank you. Chessy999 (talk) 10:31, 26 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

==political subtext of lion-baiting-- "...when Henry learned that a mastiff had baited a lion, he was appalled. How could a lowly dog attack the king of beasts? Worried that the mastiff's glory might inspire his own human subjects to rise up against him, he ordered the unlucky mastiff strung up." This is from a Washington Post story <http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2007/08/31/AR2007083101466_pf.html> that was cited by the monkey-baiting article Mang (talk) 17:06, 3 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I can’t find any more information on that. I’m not sure if it’s credible, and either way if there isn’t any info on the actual outcome, I’m not sure it should be posted @mistersheik Thegaminghyena (talk) 23:45, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Weaknesses

[edit]

The article has several weaknesses, namely poor language (e.g. incorrect punctuation) and incompleteness. As for the latter, the most glaring problem is leaving out the Roman era. 94.220.249.144 (talk) 19:31, 27 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

...and? What happened?

[edit]

It says, basically, that they got everything ready for the lion-baiting, and then it ends. Well? How did it turn out? What happened then? Are we to assume that the lion killed them both very quickly? What an annoying omission. Chrisrus (talk) 00:16, 30 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]
