confusion

[edit]

There have been edits by User:Greghenderson2006 ("Greghenderson2006 moved page Laurel Hill Plantation to Laurel Hill Plantation (Mississippi): Because there are at least two plantations called Laurel Hill Plantation) and User:Bamyers99 ("fixed location; LOC pictures are for different Laurel Hill in Jefferson County") and by User:Fortguy, which I have reversed. The page was originally about a National Register of HIstoric Places-listed place in Jefferson County, Mississippi. Some changes related perhaps to existence of a supposedly different Laurel Hill Plantation in Adams County, Mississippi (the adjacent county). I don't know if there is just mistaken info about the location of the place. But stripping out all sources, rather than clarifying about sources for the possibly single place, or possibly two places, doesn't help. And moving the page from Laurel Hill Plantation (now a redirect) to Laurel Hill Plantation (Mississippi) doesn't help at all: even if there are two such places they are both in Mississippi.

Does anyone have any info about anything? --Doncram (talk) 15:33, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Okay, some or all confusion relates to the fact that there are two Laurel Hill Plantation places in Mississippi included in NRIS, one of which was listed on the National Register (the one in Adams County 12 miles south of Natchez), and the other of which has a different listing status code "Rn", so was not listed or was listed and removed (the one in Jefferson County about 32 miles north of Natchez). The source "nationalregisterofhistoricplaces.com" is a somewhat poor quality copy of the definitive NRIS database (which is in the public domain), and fails to make distinctions about listing vs. not listing.

Info about the Jefferson County one includes (from NRHP infobox generator; see wp:NRHPHELP for more info):

Laurel Hill Plantation House

Note: this property may not actually be listed on the National Register - listing code is Rn. And infobox "date listed" label for date January 27, 1983 does not actually mean it was listed then; it was the date of some action perhaps delisting.

If a source were available it would possibly be at following (but the links yield nought):[2]

And, I guess i will plan to split this article "Laurel Hill Plantation (Mississippi)" into:

And Laurel Hill Plantation and Laurel Hill Plantation (Mississippi) will be changed to redirect to Laurel Hill (disambiguation). Which by the way also includes another Laurel Hill Plantation, listed on the National Register in West Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. --Doncram (talk) 16:29, 24 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]
