Lara Raj or Lara Rajagopalan or Lara ‘Raj’ Rajagopalan?

[edit]

I found an article on Cosmopolitan with all of the girls full names but the author called Lara by her full surname. I know that on the documentary Lara was credited as Lara Raj not Lara Rajagopalan. Can find a source citing what Lara's preferred name is?

What is everyone's opinion on this? DSQ (talk) 12:01, 12 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

It doesnt really matter since Lara Raj is just a shortened version of her actual name. This0k (talk) 02:02, 14 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Members Surnames

[edit]

Is there a particular reason why this page doesn't have any of the members surnames and why it has been removed when I added them with a source? DSQ (talk) 05:12, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We use the names the members go by professionally, as listed on their official website. The group does not use their full names, only their first names, which is why the full names are not included. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 05:20, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Almost all of them list their full names on their social media, with the exception of Lara. Also it is standard practice on Wikipedia to not only list stage names but legal names as well. Which is why on articles like Lady Gaga's and Chappell Roan's (someone who has stated they don't wish to be referred to by their legal name) they both have their full names in the headers. I'm not sure why Katseye should be any different? They have not hidden their name deliberately like Banksy. DSQ (talk) 08:57, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The formatting of Kateseye articles follows a style of K-pop articles, where full names are typically not included. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 09:33, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I thought as per the above talk "Global or American" this was not a K-pop group but, as the header says, an LA based girl group? Should the K-pop article standard really apply? Especially, as I said most of the members have their full names on their social media so presumably wish to be known by those names?
Wikipedia is supposed to give as much information as possible and it has failed if users have to go back to google to find out the members surnames in my opinion. DSQ (talk) 10:27, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They are connected to K-pop. They are signed to a Korean label, and they promote in South Korea. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 10:33, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They are also signed to an American label. Anyway I'm sure this will come up again but I'm willing to admit defeat on point. DSQ (talk) 12:45, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If it's their individual BLP article, then this "to not only list stage names but legal names as well" would apply however this is the group's article in which as Btspurplegalaxy has mentioned and also as per the hidden note, the group's official website listed their first name not their full legal name and/or full non-legal stage name. Let's just keep the surnames because it WILL keep continously getting added and I'm not sure if that would fall under vandalism because majority of the members are not Korean, plus they are also under Geffen not just HYBE UMG. Please let me know what you think of this.

We can always add a note, refraining people from adding the full names. Btspurplegalaxy 💬 🖊️ 02:56, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I feel like if surnames aren't gonna be added, the Korean translation of their names should also be put there. Feel free to let me know how you feel about that decision. This0k (talk) 03:04, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Updated the note to denote WP:DISRUPTIVE EDITING. For long-term vandalism and/or disruptive editing, request for protection at WP:RPPI. For continuous vandalism and/or disruptive editing, warn the user sufficiently (level 1 to 4) and report to WP:AIV. Personally, I have no objection to their Korean stage name (minus their surname) from being included in the Members section as they are also performing in Music programs of South Korea, however accuracy (no loose translation or literal translation) must be ensured as we're dealing with WP:BLP's names here. In addition, if they're introducing themselves and/or being introduced by their English name, then I don't see why we should be including their Korean stage name. Can you WP:BURDEN some evidence in this discussion on whether they're introducing themselves and/or being introduced by their Korean stage name when performing in South Korea's music programs? Article for Pop Star Academy.

[edit]

Pop Star Academy:Katseye is very notable and brought mass attention to the group. As cited by Time, Rolling Stone,Marie Clarie, and Billboard. There is actually a draft that needs work here. If anyone will be willing to fix up this draft by this user and submit it then that would be great or even just create your own, thanks in advance. This0k (talk) 17:05, 21 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
