The International Federation for the Promotion of Mechanism and Machine Science is a well known among the scientists and engineers in the field of Mechanism and Machine Science (MMS). For the last 40 years IFToMM was facilitating international collaboration and promoting of the of MMS among educational institutions. The organization is mentioned in thousands of scientific papers and books (as of August 2012 Google Scholar shows 18,000+ citation of the organization name and 7,000+ citation of the organization abbreviation).

Besides the literature specific to MMS, the organization is listed in database of The Union of International Associations (a research institute and documentation centre, based in Brussels).

Due to international nature of the organization a lot of online referencies exist in the Non-English part of the Internet.
