Miniatlas

[edit]

Miniatlas does not give the right location; Hoorn is not near Abidjan... - Erik Baas 09:54, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Coordinates check out ok. Point to Hoorn in Noord Holland. http://tools.wikimedia.de/~dispenser/maps.php?params=52_39_0_N_5_4_12_E Scubafish 14:39, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Miniatlas meaning the little blue button left to the coördinates. - Erik Baas 21:11, 24 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Removed para

[edit]

Hoorn is directly linked with the vanished United States Zwaanendael Colony that was massacred in a dispute with Nanticoke Indians and the town of Lewes, Delaware that was re-established on its site. A Zwaanendael Museum exists in present day Lewes and is a replica of the town hall of the city of Hoorn.

I removed the above paragraph because

  1. It is unsourced
  2. It does not specific what 'directly linked' actually means
  3. It seems to promote wikipedia's systemic bias towards topic of interest to US readers. That is, it text appears barely relevant to the topic of 'Hoorn' itself, and better belongs in the article on Lewes.

I was indeed a bit baffled by it, as I never know about that, and I'm a home grown Hoorinees.Scubafish (talk) 11:58, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There's a bit of a systemic bias towards Europeans too. Can any one really be said to have "founded" Cape Horn. Surely it was already there. It's a bit like Columbus "discovering" a continent that just happened to be full of people already. Sjwells53 (talk) 11:24, 12 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]
