Clarity on fledging

Under the behavior and ecology section, this line "...it has been recorded as starting to nest as early as February, with many young just fledging as late as September in northeastern Tibet."

I'm not quite sure what it's trying to say. In Columbidae, most species fledge two to four weeks after roughly 18 days of incubation. And it's not uncommon for them to lay a new set of eggs while the first batch is still in the nest. So say using February 15th is an average for an early nest, that cohort would fledge the first week of April. Is it saying that most eggs, or the second batch of eggs maybe, hatch in the first week in August? I'm not familiar with this species but at 280 grams their life cycle will likely be a bit faster than C. livia. Maybe rewrite for clarity? -rudyard (talk) 03:59, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
