Benson?

[edit]

I rather doubt Snyder is from Benson, VT, since this appears to be a part of a larger hoax surrounding the Benson, VT page, and since no citation is given. If this part is removed, Snyder should also be removed from the List of People from Vermont. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Llamapalooza87 (talkcontribs) 18:56, 3 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I happen to be an In-an-Out burger fan and may have been an unwitting accomplice if this is a hoax. Any ideas on how to track this down? I've looked online in vain. Snyders life starts after WWII when he meets his wife. Has to be an obit on him someplace - on the other hand, his fast food franchise wasn't that big then so it was just in that town in which he died, I suppose. Citation Needed tag has been up for quite a while. Sent this inquiry to In-N-Out Burger:

Hi,

I am working on cleaning up a number of articles on Wikipedia, one of which concerns In-N-Out Burger founder Harry Snyder. For some reason, an unverified report that Snyder was born in Benson, Vermont seems to have arisen. Can you verify whether Snyder is, in fact, from Benson, VT to help make sure Snyder's article is accurate? Thanks!

I'm removing any references to Benson, but I will reinstate them and try and bring about further discussion should In-N-Out respond saying Snyder is from Benson.--llamapalooza87 (talk) 03:43, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Case closed, then? --llamapalooza87 (talk) 19:55, 10 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I've not heard of this guy other than on the Benson article and on this page, so I'm not going even to try to contribute to the facts of his life. One question, however: did he live in Benson at some point in his life other than his birth? The notable people sections aren't meant to include just natives: see WP:USCITY, where you'll see that a preferred layout includes both natives and non-native residents. The user who added a bunch of untrue things to the Benson, VT article also added Benson, VT as Snyder's birthplace; we haven't seen any other connection to Vermont––just one unsourced edit by a dubious user. --llamapalooza87 (talk) 17:25, 11 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
