There is a little bit of repetition between the introduction paragraph and the general problem which can be fixed. Thanks for your contribution. Would also be an interesting idea to add a section containing some instances of serious contamination around the world by pharma companies and tag the news articles.[reply]

The following observations and suggestions for improvements were collected, following expert review of the article within the Science, Tecnology, Society and Wikipedia course at the Politecnico di Milano, in June 2021.

The article is quite good. The topic of pharmaceuticals in the acquatic enviroment is very relevant. My only remark is that among the topic has been thouroughly studied and many review are available (e.g. OECD Studies on Water Pharmaceutical Residues in Freshwater Hazards and Policy Responses; https://doi.org/10.1787/c936f42d-en). It is surprising to see cited so many times an italian review (Frega et al.) which gives even too much emphasis to groundwater modeling. For most of the pharmaceutycal residues in fact the groundwater kinetics is far from being fully understood. It would have been appropriate to highlight this relevant aspect.

At a certain point, foc is indicated as a parameter linked to "soil moisture" that is the water content of the soil; actually foc is the percentage of organic substance in the soil that is what determines its tendency to adsorb lipophilic pollutants. Probably the confusion arises from the fact that often the organic fraction is also called wet fraction because it generally has a very high humidity value, but for the calculations for which Koc and foc are used, in reality the water content is not a parameter to be considered.
