Greg Popovich several times said that he is Serb

Actually, he said that family roots on his father's side go back to Herzegovina and Montenegro. Being Montenegrin and being from Montenegro aren't the same. Additionaly, Pop has been to Serbia for coaching clinics in the last few years and referred to himself as Serbian in interviews.65.94.133.126 19:25, 9 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well the link I provided has an interview where he actualy stated the oposite, and even serbian sites such as B92 had this information publicated Crnogorac2 (talk) 21:17, 6 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

This may be a picky point, but the coach of the year award is given out early in the playoffs and has nothing to do with playoff performance. So the statement about Pop receiving this award "after leading the Spurs to another championship" is misleading I think. Also, I have read a fair bit on this guy and I have never seen it mentioned that he has an anger management problem. Where did you get this? This seems to be a bit of a serious statement and I think it should be backed up.—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 142.179.54.194 (talkcontribs) .

I've made the contextual change per your request on the COY award; wordsmith it some more if that is still unclear. I've also removed the anger part; someone can add it back in later with a proper cite if they feel the need. Thanks for your feedback on the article! Kuru talk 04:17, 31 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How come this page is Catagorized as Croatian-American even though his father is Serbian...shouldn't it be Serbian-American????? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.240.49.219 (talk) 22:29, 12 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Infobox

[edit]

I added an infobox for Pop, but we need a free image of Gregg. I cant find any on flickr with his name in the tags, but if someone knows of one it would be a great add to the article.Bgautrea (talk) 06:00, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I added part that he did spy training and considered the CIA as a career - that's an interesting part of his life.Jacksonthor (talk) 20:07, 16 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Fluent in Russian?

[edit]

According to Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban in an interview on Pardon The Interuption, Gregg Popovich is the one current coach in the NBA who is fully fluent in Russian. Any confirmation about?

I came here looking about the same thing haha 24.251.33.38 (talk) 22:47, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Playoff Wins/Losses/Games

[edit]

The statistics in the PG, PW and PL columns sort lexicographically instead of numerically. I have no clue if this is intentional or how to fix it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 155.4.125.53 (talk) 23:16, 29 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Surely not intentional. The problem was the use of dashes in the column that made it think the data type was text. I made some changes to the template used on the page and it seems to work as one would expect now. The template is used on about 500 NBA coach pages, so I'm crossing my fingers that I did not break something else in the process. :) Kuru (talk) 01:15, 30 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Self-contradiction

[edit]

One sentence in the intro says he has the most consecutive winning seasons (playoffs and regular season) at 19, then says he's behind Phil Jackson, who has 20. Also, what's with the "(playoffs and regular season)"? Does this mean a winning playoff record? Clarityfiend (talk) 23:58, 9 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Semi-protected edit request on 28 July 2021

Completely remove the sentence that mentions Stern’s decision being criticized by commentators, such as Adrian Wojnarowski. This is very one-sided and not needed. Stern’s decision was also supported by various sources as well. 2603:6081:5942:B000:C55E:741F:24FE:DF90 (talk) 11:58, 28 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: please establish a consensus for this alteration before using the {{edit semi-protected}} template. Wojnarowski's opinion is allowed per WP:ATTRIBUTEPOV. I changed it from plural "commentators", as the source only had his opinion. Seems it'd be more informative by making it neutral if you could identify sources for the supporters that you referred to, not just remove Woj's opinion.—Bagumba (talk) 12:51, 28 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Military Service in the infobox?

[edit]

Any reason his service in the Air Force isn't included in the infobox?Bro rick (talk) 04:03, 13 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]
