Conflict of interest

[edit]

Based on username, it seems that the author of this article is the owner of this company, and even has his picture on this page. That's a conflict of interest (and probably an unauthorized advertisement) and needs to be handled very carefully, see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest. Yes, but it is best (imo) to guide such users to help contribute and make a balanced article instead of outright confusing them with policy. I agree possible COI.ηoian ‡orever ηew ‡rontiers 01:26, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The article has been copyedited per WP:MOS (ex: Sentence case section headings)and references have been checked. References that do not support the stated claim have been removed and replaced with a citation needed tag. One example of this is the claim in the third paragraph in the History section, claiming carbon fiber has produced the most champions. None of the three refs cited state that; two are the records of skiers (no mention that they use carbon fiber skis) and the third is a GOODE press release about new products. Similar comments about the Water skis section. Simply put, the citation must validate the statement made in the article. Truthanado (talk) 17:02, 28 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
In what is (currently) the Competition Use section, none of the references provided indicate any association with, or use of, the companies products. If the claim is being made that they use this companies products, then citations which prove this need to be provided, or this section should be removed. Also, although it states that various athletes set various records, it doesn't state which record was set - longest, highest, fastest etc.CultureDrone (talk) 08:55, 2 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good progress has been made on the article. Under what situation would you see that a photo of the founder of a company would be acceptable to stay in an article about the company he founded? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dave Goode (talkcontribs) 19:35, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Ref Improve

[edit]

As far as I can tell, there's no reference to verify that the skiers are using Goode's products. --Omarcheeseboro (talk) 01:01, 25 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The author removed the article refimprove tag, I've reinstated it at section level as these references still provide no verifiable association with the company. CultureDrone (talk) 09:00, 27 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I've actually removed this section - I rechecked the references, and even scrutinised the photographs on those web pages, and could find nothing that provided an association with this company. If someone can produce something relevant, the section can be reinstated. CultureDrone (talk) 08:41, 29 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
