Its Anthem, and yes. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.152.198.167 (talk) 11:59, 21 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

God Save the Queen

[edit]

"was also set to the tune of the British national anthem; 'God Save the Queen'". There's no way to seriously sing this article's lyrics to the tune of "God Save the Queen". Try it; the notes don't fit the syllables at all. (To puzzled Americans: "God Save the Queen" is the same tune as My Country, 'Tis of Thee.) Your reference is behind a paywall, but here's the sheet music I found. The tune is "God Save the Queen" (I can read music) but the lyrics don't match this article at all, except for the title "God Save the South". Art LaPella (talk) 01:29, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

It does work if you take away some of the repetitions. The Royal C (talk) 13:11, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

"citizens of the Confederacy's personal association with George Washington"

[edit]

There is assertion in the article of a citizens of the Confederacy's personal association with George Washington. This seems completely WP:EXCEPTIONAL and needs at least direct attribution from one or more highly reliable sources. As it is now, there is no attribution and seems like pure OR or revisionist opinion. Toddst1 (talk) 16:32, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, the Washington Times article makes no mention of the fifth verse or justification for "the cause". I've marked that sentence as {{fv}}. That entire paragraph needs to go as there is nothing to support it. Toddst1 (talk) 16:49, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I've removed it. Please be sure to comply with WP:BURDEN before considering restoring it. Toddst1 (talk) 17:38, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@The C of E:has restored the "justification for the cause" passage that is not mentioned in the WT article. This appears to be WP:SYN and is not at all helpful. Tagged as such. Your lack of engagement here and WP:EW tactics are pretty poor. Toddst1 (talk) 22:12, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I agree that I should have used the 1st source for the other one as the WP source didn't make it clear. That is why I reworded it and put the source where it should have been. The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 22:17, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you for adding the source for the first sentence of that paragraph, but the second sentence appears to be fabrication and from my reading is not supported by either citation. As requested in the article tags, please provide the text that you feel supports this. Toddst1 (talk) 22:22, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I've waited a few days but no response. I will remove the contested material. Please don't restore it unless discussed here first. Toddst1 (talk) 23:03, 22 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

never adopted

[edit]

The infobox says this was adopted in 1861, but the article says it was never officially adopted. I think the adoption date should be removed. Toddst1 (talk) 20:57, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I concur. Furthermore, if it was never adopted, the "until" date makes no sense. I've removed them.fourthords | =Λ= | 21:56, 20 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

@E bitcc lol:, Please can you explain why you are constantly adding the lyrics to the article despite WP:NOTLYRICS? The C of E God Save the Queen! (talk) 20:14, 16 April 2021 (UTC)[reply]
