Wine auction

[edit]

Not worthy of comment in the article, but passing researchers might like to know of an auction, by Messrs. Christie, Manson & Woods, on 18 December 1877, “of Valuable Old Wines, The Property Of George Moore, Esq., Deceased, Late of Kensington Palace Gardens; Comprising 77 Dozens of Fine Old Sherry; 300 Dozens of Port of the Vintages of 1820, 1847, 1850, and 1851; 80 Dozens of Château Lafite and Château Margaux, Coningham’s 1864, 1868, and other Clarets; 50 Dozens of Champagne, Perrier Jouet, and Duc de Montebello; also Small Quantities of Burgundy, Hock, Chablis, Barsac, and other Wines and Liqueurs”.
