Conflicting capital information

[edit]

The second paragraph states that: "(t)he capital was moved from Saigon (in Cochinchina) to Hanoi (Tonkin) in 1902 and again to Da Lat (Annam) in 1939. In 1945 it was moved back to Hanoi."

That piece of information conflicts with the tabled information (right side):

Capital
Saigon (1887–1902)
Hanoi (1902–1945)
Saigon (1945–1954)

I agree, there is a lot of conflicting information about French Indochina after its re-establishment in 1945. Hanoi was re-conquered in 1946 and a number of government institutions were centered in Hanoi, but the Provisional Central Government of Vietnam moved its capital to Saigon after acquiring the Autonomous Republic of Cochinchina. As far as Da Lat being the capital city, I know that it was planned to be the capital city of French Indochina but I can't find anything about it actually being its seat. In 1945 it was occupied by the Democratic Republic of Vietnam so it would seem unlikely that it was the de facto capital but if someone can find any documents proving thay it was the de jure capital city we could change the infobox. --Donald Trung (talk) 19:50, 1 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

1946?

[edit]

@Editorfree1011:, just curious but where did you get the 1946 end date from? I have never seen sources use the establishment of the French Union as the end of the Indochinese Federation (a name instituted in this year and used well into the 1950's), so I'm curious where you get that 1946 end date from. --Donald Trung (talk) 19:56, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Donald Trung:, i did not change anything in page "French Indochina" then why do you ask me this ? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Editorfree1011 (talkcontribs)
@Editorfree1011:, regarding this edit. --Donald Trung (talk) 20:14, 2 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Zhanjiang

[edit]

@Vif12vf:, I'd like to inform you that I undid this undoing. While user "Javyriv" didn't list a reason, I assume that this was because the French leased territory of Guangzhouwan today only became the city of Zhanjiang, while for Vietnam, Cambodia, and Laos it would make sense to list the entire countries, only a small part of what is today the People's Republic of China was a part of French Indo-China. So it would make more sense to me to specify what part of that country belonged to French Indo-China. If my edit is against some manual of style then feel free to revert it. --Donald Trung (talk) 20:40, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Yes Donald it was. Javyriv (talk) 21:16, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry I usually forget the reasons for the edits. Javyriv (talk) 21:16, 5 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
