Hi. When did the word "amoeba" get its spelling changed? I live in the english-speaking world, and I don't seem to have received the memo. Is this some recent American invention? AllGloryToTheHypnotoad (talk) 17:25, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Does anybody know any scientific basis (or is it purely unknown) why this type of amoeba resorts to such nasty parasitism when it gets to the opportunity of infecting a human host?
