Production Delays:

I have read many theories about why Edge's launch was delayed: Quality and quality control issues were the chief amongst these. Particularly, I had heard that Ford was not releasing the Edge until it could work through 5 days of production with no quality issues. Other theories are about improvements to materials, fixing various "quality of perception" issues, and what is currently posted, "Supplier Issues" (the first time I had heard this).

Can anyone find a definitive source on this?

Edge Competition

[edit]

See, the competition for a Ford Edge would similar to the Chevrolet Equinox. MSN competes the Edge against compact crossover SUVs. An example for:

Compact Crossovers:
Chevrolet HHR
Ford Escape/Mercury Mariner/Mazda CX-5
Honda Element
Hyundai Tucson/Kia Sportage
Jeep Compass/Patriot
Subaru Forester

Midsize Crossovers:
Chevrolet Equinox/Pontiac Torrent
Ford Edge
Honda CR-V
Hyundai Santa Fe
Mazda CX-7
Mitsubishi Outlander
Saturn VUE
Toyota RAV4

Large Crossovers:
Chrysler Pacifica
Ford Freestyle
GMC Acadia/Buick Enclave/Saturn Outlook
Honda Pilot
Hyundai Veracruz
Mazda CX-9
Mitsubishi Endeavor
Nissan Murano
Subaru B9 Tribeca
Suzuki XL-7
Toyota Highlander

I didn't include any luxury crossovers. The winner is? You guessed it, large crossovers! -- Bull-Doser 01:03, 16 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Trademarks

[edit]

I've made a few changes to the article to bring it into line with guidelines at MOS:TM. I've left "SYNC" as it is for now, but it may get changed to "Sync" in the future. -- Scjessey (talk) 14:33, 3 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

How many people does it seat?

Should the Edge Plus & Edge L be separated into their own article?

[edit]

The Chinese market Edge Plus was a lightly modified 2nd gen Edge with a 3rd row of seats, and I would agree with it staying in this article. However, the successor to that vehicle is the Edge L, which is an all new vehicle which arguable doesn't have much relation to the Edge other than sharing a name and being the replacement for a modified version of it. There is no 3rd generation Edge, only the Edge L. Could the Edge L be moved to its own article? Needlesballoon (talk) 04:44, 26 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
