Map not accessible for editing

[edit]

The map links to Decatur, Alabama, but the convention is to link to the stations. The map should be edited to access: Southern Railway Depot (Decatur, Alabama). At present, it is not possible to edit the map.Dogru144 (talk) 04:00, 23 February 2019 (UTC)[reply]

New Floridian train

[edit]

There is a new Floridian train as the result of combining the Silver Star and Capitol Limited, as seen on Amtrak's website. It will not be the same route as the original Floridian but bear the same name. Still waiting for more info, but we would have to determine if we should make a separate article of the new Floridian train or have these two trains in one article. For now, we should wait a bit until Amtrak makes the official press announcement. Traintrak (talk) 19:30, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

My initial inclination is a separate article. Totally different history and routing. Mackensen (talk) 20:26, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That was mine too. That way the original train's history (as well as the FRA planning for the actual restoration of the Floridian) is retained. Then for the new train, it can have its own new article and possibly avoid confusion. Traintrak (talk) 20:59, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Possible new title for this article: Floridian (Amtrak train, 1971-1979). Mackensen (talk) 20:43, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree both with a new article for this new train, and the move title that Mackensen suggested. Hopefully enough news will come out from reliable sources this week to start working on the article. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:37, 22 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. Because when people Google "Amtrak floridian", this shows up Rckania (talk) 02:08, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A short blurb on the old Floridian would be useful with a link to the new page. Amtrak's website shows it available to book too. Zackrules90 (talk) 03:45, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Okay so I moved the article, the article for the new train is here. Traintrak (talk) 19:13, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Very nice, it looks great! Zackrules90 (talk) 00:58, 24 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

What we need is an official announcement from Amtrak and then some coverage elsewhere (such as from Trains magazine). All that we have so far is that the "new" train is available for booking, and that's not enough. Mackensen (talk) 16:55, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

They have posted a new page that has some info on the new "Floridian", but so far no official press release yet. Traintrak (talk) 17:15, 23 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
