Picture

[edit]

The picture should be changed. How are we to know which woman from the video cover is Ms. Kendal? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.237.89.173 (talk) 01:37, 20 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Struggling actress?

[edit]

I am baffled by the lead statement "Kendal struggled in her career until 1975". My recollection was that she was frequently on television in the years leading up to the Good Life casting and she was chosen for the role specifically because of her popularity and the regard with which she was already held by the British public. Examine her entry at IMDB and see if the long list of regular appearances in TV shows indicates an actress that is "struggling" to find work. If anything the struggle came after her Barbara Good, as she was so clearly identified with that role. 21stCenturyGreenstuff (talk) 18:31, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for bringing this to our attention 21st. I have edit the lead accordingly. --BwB (talk) 10:05, 21 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Photograph August 2019

[edit]

What is it with that photograph? Is her forehead really like that? It's a terrible photo and looks as though somebody tried to smooth out wrinkles and did an abysmal job of it. It needs replaced.

Not as easy as you may think, see Wikipedia:Image use policy. We need photos that are freely editable and reusable, and those are hard to find. --GRuban (talk) 21:18, 5 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
GRuban, I'm very sorry, I'm sure it's not as easy as people think, and I appreciate your efforts in this area. But I think that image of Kendal is shockingly poor, probably as an unavoidable function of it's source. Without the context of seeing it here, and looking where it came from, I would be very hard pressed to identify her from that image. I wonder might it be best to wait for a better image? Kind regards. Martinevans123 (talk) 10:47, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
It certainly could be better, but that's true of much of our content. Just as the answer to a poorly written article isn't to delete it, but to rewrite it, the answer to a less than ideal image is to replace it with a better one. Please, do write her and her friends, coworkers, and acquaintances, and ask them to release a better one - I can point to form letters for doing that if you like. Until then, I do believe this image is an accurate depiction of her, so much better than not having one. --GRuban (talk) 12:53, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
We'll have to agree to disagree on that one. I guess it's marginally better than the image at Alistair Appleton, which frankly I found embarrassing. I'm sure her friends, coworkers, and acquaintances could all do without my begging letters. She no loner has huge media visibility, so I'm guessing a capture from some other media source is unlikely. Martinevans123 (talk) 14:05, 5 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Is this possibly the poorest photographic portrait on Wikipedia. Not sure I've seen a worse one. Martinevans123 (talk) 14:08, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I shall review in the next few days. Edwininlondon (talk) 15:15, 10 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hi @BennyOnTheLoose:, I have completed my review. I believe that this article meets the criteria. The sources look solid; formatting of sources as well. Verification: I don't have access to the often-used Gale, but I trust the claims are backed up, so not to worry. I did a spotcheck and #31 21 2 68 10 all checked out fine.

I have a few comments which you may wish to address:

  • including as Barbara Good in the 1975 television series The Good Life --> we need consistency throughout the article for The Good Life's years. We have 1975, 1975–77, from 1975 to 1978, and 1975–78.
  • She was initially approached --> the word initially suggests something that stopped it and only later did it come through, but the body has no such
  • from 1975 to 1978 --> why repeat the years again?
  • Kendal and Keith perform in The Norman Conquests --> saw Kendal and Keith perform in the play The Norman Conquests
  • Summer 1973 --> avoid as per MOS:SEASON
  • The Stoppard scholar Paul Delaney wrote in 1990 that Kendal "first dazzled Stoppard audiences" in On the Razzle, and created the poignant role of Annie in The Real Thing before playing Dotty in the 1985 revival of Jumpers, [in Hapgood] gives a towering performance in the most complex role Stoppard has ever written for a woman. --> I don't understand the structure of this sentence
  • In 2014, she toured the UK --> repetition
  • revival is repeated many times in short succession at the end of the Stage work section

That's all. Edwininlondon (talk) 11:53, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Many thanks, Edwininlondon. The Gale source is available via Wikipedia Library if you have that access. (Go to Gale, select "Biography", and search for Felicity Kendal). Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 12:35, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Hopfully I've addressed all the comments, Edwininlondon, but please let me know if anything else is required. Thank you again. Regards, BennyOnTheLoose (talk) 15:26, 13 September 2024 (UTC)[reply]
