The Five Sections

[edit]

Piston's Fantasia is divided into five sections but the Naxos Liner notes only give them as:

  • Slow section-
  • Allegro-
  • Adagio-
  • Allegro energico-
  • Slow section

I've been unable to locate the tempo indications for the enclosing slow sections. Assistance in clearing this up would be gratefully accepted.Graham1973 (talk) 23:53, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Already done, from Pollack. I think I also have the score lying about somewhere, if this needs to be cross-checked.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 00:18, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks the assistance and for the clean up of the two violin concerto articlesGraham1973 (talk) 01:00, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
No probs. You are keeping me running, what with all these new stub articles you are creating! How do you like the clams, in Three New England Sketches?—Jerome Kohl (talk) 06:34, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Very much, not what I think of though. You might want to have a look at the Serenata article. I'm not sure about doing the Quartets, the Naxos liner notes are not very good, no details on the who/when/where.Graham1973 (talk) 12:55, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Not my sort of synesthesia, either (though I can recall one or two pieces of music that I thought had a funny smell about them)! I guess I've overlooked the Serenata article. This business of relying on CD liner notes is a bit iffy, as I see you are discovering. Pollack's book is a much better source (in fact, probably the one used by most of the liner-note authors without acknowledgment). Since I have it checked out of the library at the moment, why don't you leave the string quartets to me—it shouldn't take very long to create stubs.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 17:06, 22 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
I look forward to reading them. Graham1973 (talk)
You should not have long to wait. I have completed stubs for Quartets 1–3 except for discographies, and it should not take very long to do the remaining two quartets.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 19:40, 23 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
They are finished.—Jerome Kohl (talk) 20:42, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
