F.L. Caulkins of Hartford Connecticut

[edit]

I am curious if there is any connection between F.W. Caulkins and F.L. Caulkins (article) who seems to have operated an auto dealership in Hartford Connectict. F.W. was born there and the time periods overlap. F.L. Caulkins worked from the Caulkins & Post Building. Candleabracadabra (talk) 08:07, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Claims

[edit]

An ancestor of Caulkins has said he worked in Beaumont, Texas from about 1912 to about 1920, perhaps as a Naval Architect, and did housing in Shreveport, Louisiana. He also credits him with the Jane Chinn Hospital in Webb City Missouri around 1908and the circa 1884 jail in Eau Claire Wisconsin. One of hisposts is linked here. I wasn't able to find anything to verify these claims. Candleabracadabra (talk) 08:38, 25 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Grave

[edit]

An editor removed that "Caulkins died in Bedford, Virginia in 1940." because it was sourced to F.W. Caulkins' findagrave.com page. Candleabracadabra (talk) 13:47, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Per here[1] is almost never a reliable source. The talk archives of that page show some agreement that it can be used as a EL, or if the grave marker verifies certain information. FW Caulkins article was using it as a source for the name of his parents and his dying in Bedford and therefore it fails as a WP:RS....William 15:40, 20 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]
