UKRAINE DOESN'T IMPORT ENERGY, IT IS WORLD'S LARGEST EXPORTER OF ENERGY —Preceding unsigned comment added by 95.132.129.64 (talk) 18:34, 29 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

My rationale for importance assessment:

  • Eurasia's #1 transit knode
  • second largest country in Europe
  • world's seventh largest steel producer
  • net exporter of energy; atomic energy producer

etc. etc.

Capital Control

[edit]

Could someone with a bit more knowledge than me add some information about the currency regulations? Apparently the currency is softpegged to the US dollar because of the hyperinflation in the 90s. People would avoid the inflation by exchanging their savings into USD. In response the government imposed regulations on currency flows. Are there any plans to free up the currency or peg it to the Euro instead which is a bigger trading partner than USA? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.233.233.166 (talk) 20:52, 7 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Font size

[edit]

The font size is too small, it's unreadable. Can someone change it to normal? --Sylius 21:29, 27 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Yearly GDP growth

[edit]

A table for yearly GDP growth (decline, resp.) and similar indicators since the fall of socialism is missing. It would be a good idea to add it, if anyone has sources at hand. --Miacek (talk) 13:22, 1 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I am not really sure how to make a table, but I am sure I can find the data. If you can set up the table, I will fill in the data. Sanya3 (talk) 06:33, 7 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No Longer the World's Worst Nuclear Accident

[edit]

Chernobyl has been eclipsed by Fukushima as the world's worst nuclear accident. The reference to this near the end of the article should be corrected. 41.215.133.40 (talk) 17:20, 22 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

International Monetary Fund new demands for loan

[edit]

It is a bit unofficial but apparently fresh bailouts from the IMF, which froze a $15.6bn loan programme last year due to lacklustre reforms, will also require greater commitment to democracy of the current leadership of Ukraine. Unfortunately the news is WP:CRYSTAL for now. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 18:28, 29 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ukrainian State Statistics Service claims the real income of Ukrainians in 2012 increased by 9.7% compared to 2011

[edit]

According to the State Statistics Service, the nominal income of Ukrainians in 2012 increased by 11.1% compared to 2011. Compared with the IMF Ukrainian figures of 2012 this does look to me to be a bit strange... I would not be surprised if this State Statistics Service miscalculated for political purposes.... Should this rather spectacular mentioning of "real income of Ukrainians in 2012 growth" be mentioned in this Wiki-article? — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 16:06, 11 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned references in Economy of Ukraine

[edit]

I check pages listed in Category:Pages with incorrect ref formatting to try to fix reference errors. One of the things I do is look for content for orphaned references in wikilinked articles. I have found content for some of Economy of Ukraine's orphans, the problem is that I found more than one version. I can't determine which (if any) is correct for this article, so I am asking for a sentient editor to look it over and copy the correct ref content into this article.

Reference named "OmanEM":

  • From Ukraine–European Union relations: http://main.omanobserver.om/?p=34172
  • From Euromaidan: "Ukraine still wants historic pact with EU". Oman Observer. Retrieved 27 November 2013.

I apologize if any of the above are effectively identical; I am just a simple computer program, so I can't determine whether minor differences are significant or not. AnomieBOT 15:38, 9 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Some future references I have no time (to sort out/include in article) for now.......

Surplus/deficit to state by region

[edit]

great article, just posting it here, it's content would be terrific for the article in showing where the distribution of the budget goes, and who provides more to the country, and which cities/regions could be self sufficient. --Львівське (говорити) 16:03, 21 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Aerospace industry

[edit]

The only source used (copypasted actually) is the website of the Ukrainian aerospace industry itself. ALL statements are non-neutral at best, but actually lies. I understand the wishful thinking concept, but this is an encyclopedia, not Ukrainian patriots club. Le Grand Bleu (talk) 07:57, 19 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Amazing news! Huge growth in Ukraine! Report to all agencies!

[edit]

According to this article just for a year GDP per person (PPP) in Ukraine increased from 7,800 USD to more than 20,000 USD! That's a great success for Ukrainian democracy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.165.173.131 (talk) 23:36, 8 November 2015

Hello everyone, I am working for the International Trade Centre (ITC), a UN/WTO agency that aims to promote sustainable economic development through trade promotion. I would like to propose the addition of an external link (http://www.macmap.org/QuickSearch/FindTariff/FindTariff.aspx?subsite=open_access&country=804&source=1%7CITC) that leads directly to our online database of customs tariffs applied by Ukraine. Visitors can easily look up market access information for Ukraine by selecting the product and partner of their interest. I would like you to consider this link under the WP:ELYES #3 prescriptions. Moreover, the reliability and the pertinence of this link can be supported by the following facts 1) ITC is part of the United Nations, and aims to share trade and market access data on by country and product as a global public good 2) No registration is required to access this information 3) Market access data (Tariffs and non-tariff measures) are regularly updated

Wikipedia is not a LINKFARM. If you think that the website is relevant to the article, the best way to use it would be to use it as a source to support the article, and place relevant links to the website in citations.-- Toddy1 (talk) 11:41, 23 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your response Toddy1. I can see your point. Divoc (talk) 09:36, 11 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Trillion vs billion?

[edit]

Why are the numbers in the infobox expressed in trillion, when no single number actually reaches the trillion mark? They are different billions, yet for some reason someone expressed them as 0.0x trillion instead of xx.xx billion?

Shouldn't this be changed to be in line with all other economies that are in billions and not trillions? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.231.33.107 (talk) 08:36, 22 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Corruption is relevant here?

[edit]

At present Economy of Ukraine#2014 to present day has information about corruption in Ukraine. Is this corruption information relevant? If all this money stays in Ukraine corruption has not much impact of the general state of the economy of Ukraine. This article is about the general state of the economy of Ukraine. — Yulia Romero • Talk to me! 15:50, 4 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I think it is highly relevant, as it is frequently given as one of the major factors that needs improvement to create a modern westernised economy. If anything, there should be more discussion of this in the article. For example:
Rwendland (talk) 13:22, 5 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed. I also believe lustration and other political factors in the economy should be discussed more. Nuke (talk) 15:11, 22 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Fuel section not making sense... '|'...

[edit]

The use of '|' in the Fuel section does not make sense nor does the text around the areas where these are used. It is hard to see what the author is getting at and the 'list' they have tried to present is unreadable/unintelligible.

Someone needs to do some research into this section; if they don't I suggest cutting it down in size. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.132.214.83 (talk) 01:57, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
