Earlsdon, Coventry

[edit]

Is the map needed on this page? There is a map on the Coventry page? Snowman 11:05, 18 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Chaps, this whole article read like an advert, and a slightly pretentious one at that. Earlsdon isn't that much, with tiny terraced houses, 1960s shops, and several derelict idustrial units. I've cleaned it up a bit, and removed bits that frankly aren't needed in an encyclopaedic article. Hawker Typhoon 22:59, 10 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Surprised to see "not that much, with tiny terraced houses..." - "tiny terraced houses" presumably applying to the six and eight bedroomed detached houses going for £800,000 plus in roads like Davenport Road, Belvedere Road and Warwick Avenue? 3 bedroomed semis at over £350,000 in Broadway and Spencer Place, 5 bedroomed semis fetching nearly £600,000 in Stivichall Avenue? An area moreover with one of the city's main independent schools (and a few other less important ones besides), home to its leading park, golf club, and tennis club, the Bishop of Coventry's residence, one of Coventry's two sets of private specialists' consulting rooms; where like-for-like houses can sell for more than double the Coventry average? Where a stroll round just part of the area the other day found parked up Mercedes S and CL classes, a couple of Lexus LS's and RXs, a Bentley Arnage, a Bentley Continental Flying Spur, an Aston Martin, a handful of Range Rover and BMW 4x4s... Are we thinking about the same Earlsdon? It's a mixed area, with poorer streets of terraces (though even in the scruffiest streets priced a good 50% over what you'd pay elsewhere in Coventry), some tatty old industrial units, but also full of some of Coventry's smartest addresses and nicest houses and home to many of the city's most affluent, cultured and highly educated residents.79.69.150.109 (talk) 16:24, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I was born and raised as a kid in Earlsdon in the 1950's and 60'and long since moved overseas. . I went to Earlsdon School and Broadway School nearby. I was fascinated to read your article and must say thankyou for its content. Keep up the good work. Regards Ian Roberts

Earlsdon flood

[edit]

There was a flood in Earlsdon following heavy rainfall a few years ago. How much detail should be included in the article page? I guess that it was in the local newspaper at the time, and I wonder if any news reports could be used as references? Snowman 20:27, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I think the bit on Royal Oak is inappropriate & keep removing it but different anons keep adding back in. Just a short sentence on the fact is appropriate unless there is something notable that can be expanded on and referenced. Keith D 21:46, 27 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is a large gap at the top of the page, I am unsure of how to edit this, could someone sort the spacing out please. 06/06/09 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.15.188.48 (talk) 10:08, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think that the library is no longer run by the council, but is run as a charity by volunteers. Keith D (talk) 19:13, 31 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
