Notable?

[edit]

A ping for @Russ Woodroofe and @David Eppstein; is Fellow American Statistical Association notable enough, see this which has more information than this very spotty page. I do not think "47" is notable. Ldm1954 (talk) 16:13, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I think that the Fellow of the ASA is probably a pass of WP:NPROF C3. They nominate a small percentage of their membership, and I understand that it is not so easy to get. Bentley is on their list of fellows [1]. The named professorship also tends to indicate notability. The 47 stuff is worth a mention in an eventual destubified article, but having that much about it on a very short page is likely WP:UNDUE. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 17:05, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree with the pass of PROF #C3 (ASA Fellow) and #C5 (named professorship). I removed some information from prabook, which is not a reliable source. We still need a better source for the named professorship; I can find enough sources stating it that I believe it to be true, but not good sources by Wikipedia standards. —David Eppstein (talk) 17:21, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I was making some edits...then lost them all on a conflict so I will let David do them. His PhD thesis is listed at https://statistics.stanford.edu/people/donald-lyon-bentley and there is a copy at https://searchworks.stanford.edu/view/9762529. I could not find verification of his divinity degree. Ldm1954 (talk) 17:38, 4 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
