The result of the move request was: Moved -- JHunterJ (talk) 12:19, 17 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

– I propose to move the current page to make way for the clear primary topic at Draft:Diatribe, and to move the current disambiguation page Rant to make way for a primary redirect to the same topic. bd2412 T 15:56, 9 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

  • Support the diatribe move but oppose the rant move. I always expect to oppose moves to turn Wikipedia into Wiktionary, but as User:Red Slash notes, User:BD2412 delivers the goods. "Rant", however, has too many other important encyclopedic meanings to call "diatribe" its primary topic. —  AjaxSmack  00:42, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
    • Perhaps the kind of Scottish song is important, but the book and albums would appear to be named after the form of discourse, and the people's names are partial title matches (unless there is some evidence of any of them being well-known enough to be called just by their surname). bd2412 T 00:47, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
      • "Named after" is not part of primary topic, though. If I'm looking for information about the novel Rant, the fact that the title comes from the term "rant" is not going to suddenly make me want to read about diatribes instead. The "named after" argument works for word families in dictionaries but not for encyclopedias. Otherwise, Google would redirect to googol.  AjaxSmack  01:18, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support. I oppose most attempts to move DAB pages in favor of drafts, because most drafts are crap, but this one makes sense, both as to its content and as to the move and redirect ideas.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  03:16, 12 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]
