"SBF"?

How can the Fairchild version be called the SBF when F is Grummans designation code? There is even a link at the top of the article to a page about a Grumman XSBF scout bomber that was never produced. I didn't think the Navy system was so irrational as to use the same manufacturer letter for two different companies while the same aircraft are still in service. According to Joe Baugher (which we can not use but is one of the more reliable sites out there) the letter F was used by Grumman and Canadian Fairchild at the same time. The American Fighter by Angellucci states similar in its designation system section, the SB2 is not covered by that book. Nimbus (Cumulus nimbus floats by) 11:32, 5 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
