Discussion

[edit]

I have a question. I'm in middle school. I've seen some of the music videos and know the basis of what the movie's about. I'd really like to see it but I'm not sure if my mom would approve. Do you think - everyone who's seen the movie, this is directed to you - it would be appropriate? Granted, I am kind of mature for my age. Also, I just wanted to apologize if this isn't an appropriate topic for this forum. I just don't really know who to ask!--71.230.105.150 (talk) 00:47, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

how did this movie have a historical impact?

Does anyone else agree that it isn't "ironic" that Chicago was filmed in Toronto and not actually in Chicago? It's "interesting" or "incidental" but not ironic. 67.162.166.143 04:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I do rather think that where this movie was filmed doesn't at all matter, considering it is a Musical. I'd think it was mostly soundstage and the outdoor shots look to be mostly just lots and cgi. A film of this style and budget doesn't require on site shooting and it should only be a dot point that it was filmed in Toronto JayKeaton 16:46, 4 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Where most movies or TV shows are filmed doesn't matter. My Big Fat Greek Wedding was also filmed partly in Toronto. The American Queer as Folk was partly filmed in Toronto. it's already well-known that it is cheaper to make movies in Canada. The reimagined BattleStar Galactica cast is rife with Canadians although it is always considered an American show.--WPaulB 18:13, 26 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is there any interest in explaining why songs didn't appear in the film? The song Me and My Baby is not sung, but is played in the background music at the moment Roxie is being tested for pregnancy. THe song "I Know A Girl" isn't in the movie but I didn't notice if it was in the background music. Does anyone know why this one was dropped? --WPaulB 03:38, 5 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Spoiler warning?

[edit]

Since the "Synopsis" section contains information relating to the plot of the movie, I believe that there should be a spoiler warning placed before it. Herenthere (Talk) 01:31, 27 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The songs in Chicago

[edit]

I editted out the song titles for the various parts of the movie, in the plot description. Song listings, as well as who sang them, should be listed separately from the plot summary. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 74.69.2.156 (talk) 23:50, 11 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

The "Plot" section---unnecceary, and nothing but spoilers

[edit]

I removed the "plot" section, because it gives away everything that happens in the movie. Furthermore, the plot is already discussed in the second paragraph of the article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 208.125.77.246 (talk) 06:23, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I editted the plot section to be more concise, per wikipedia's standards. However, someone seems obsessed with A)Showing off thier knowledge of the movie, or B)Revealing everything that happens in the movie. I hope whoever's doing that can be more adult, and stop putting every detail of the movie in the article. ---Vivify

Roxy and Velma were never on death row

[edit]

While both Roxy Hart and Velma Kelly were accused of murder, and the prosecution was seeking the death penalty against them, neither woman was on death row. Both women were being held at the Cook County Jail awaiting their trials. Both were represented at trial by Billy Flynn, a star criminal defense attorney. Both women were acquitted after trial.

As the "Death Row" section linked to the wiki correctly states, the term "Death Row" refers to that portion of a prison where those convicted of capital offenses are held following their convictions, up until the time of their executions.

It would be better to state that both women were charged with capital crimes and potentially faced the death penalty if convicted.

It's probably true that in real life convicted criminals and those on remand (awaiting trial) would be held in different places but the movie does not seem to make that distinction and the place of execution is shown as being visible to Roxy. Sorry, no references just a couple of points I noticed when I re-watched the DVD a couple of hours ago. Kiore (talk) 03:42, 25 September 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I just saw this point and corrected it before I saw the discussion on the talk page. It might be justifiable to say they're "on death row" if the movie says so, even if it doesn't seem to make legal sense, but I don't recall the movie saying that. It's true that the Hungarian woman has already been sentenced and is being held in the same part of the prison, but I think "on death row" generally means "under sentence of death" more than it refers to a physical location. --Trovatore (talk) 01:11, 27 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]
