Own a Square Inch of the Yukon!

[edit]

All Things Considered just did a piece on the 19 acres of land in the Yukon that the Quaker Oats Company bought, AFAI can recall, in the 1950s, and divided up into square-inch plots with deeds stuffed into cereal boxes as premiums. But i find no relevant G-hits in WP for

Yukon cereal

and assume we don't cover it. Give it some thot.
The piece mentioned that Quaker lost title to the land by failing to pay $37 in taxes at some point, and that Yukon land is sold without mineral rights. The promotion required adding extra shifts to meet the demand. It was inspired by someone's less notable square-inch-of-Texas-land project. The ad guy who proposed or implemented it went on to name Cap'n Crunch.

This was real. I still have my Big Inch Land Company deed. Imagine my disappointment that it is now worthless due to a missed property tax payment. Naaman Brown (talk) 21:32, 24 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Cyberbot II has detected that page contains external links that have either been globally or locally blacklisted. Links tend to be blacklisted because they have a history of being spammed, or are highly innappropriate for Wikipedia. This, however, doesn't necessarily mean it's spam, or not a good link. If the link is a good link, you may wish to request whitelisting by going to the request page for whitelisting. If you feel the link being caught by the blacklist is a false positive, or no longer needed on the blacklist, you may request the regex be removed or altered at the blacklist request page. If the link is blacklisted globally and you feel the above applies you may request to whitelist it using the before mentioned request page, or request it's removal, or alteration, at the request page on meta. When requesting whitelisting, be sure to supply the link to be whitelisted and wrap the link in nowiki tags. The whitelisting process can take its time so once a request has been filled out, you may set the invisible parameter on the tag to true. Please be aware that the bot will replace removed tags, and will remove misplaced tags regularly.

Below is a list of links that were found on the main page:

When I clicked on the blacklisted link mentioned above on Jan. 3, 2014, a page headed "The page cannot be found" appeared. Teblick (talk) 03:49, 4 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Merger proposal

[edit]

Request to merge the Sergeant William Preston article into this (Challenge of the Yukon) article received at Merger request noticeboard. Discussion here. GenQuest "Talk to Me" 17:49, 11 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Probably. There are three secondary sources, but I'm not sure if they're reliable, they're all from the same site, and they're not being used for reception. The article's text also doesn't show a great deal of promise for non-redundancy from the work. Tezero (talk) 15:35, 12 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
