There is a discussion about whether the Rugby League Challenge Cup should be moved to Challenge Cup. Those with an opinion see Talk:Rugby League Challenge Cup.GordyB 09:02, 13 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely needs to move. The FA Cup does not need a disambiguation page, nor does this.Londo06 17:35, 27 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

There appears to be no momentum for a return to the dark old days, returned to normality.Londo06 11:41, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

However, there really ought not to be two articles Challenge Cup and Rugby League Challenge Cup that are basically the same. Suggest that the second one should be made into a redirect.GordyB (talk) 12:46, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Redirected the superfluous article into the main one. The Challenge Cup is known as such in England and Australia, no need to add rugby league in front of it. Alexsanderson83 21:07, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Lance Todd Trophy

[edit]

Article (and Lance Todd Trophy) says: "The winner is selected by the members of the Rugby League Writers' Association present at the game and the trophy is presented at a celebratory dinner at The Willows, home of the Salford City Reds." but I remember seeing players being presented with it on the pitch/in the stand after the game. Is it presented twice now or is the wording just a bit loose? JoelUK (talk) 16:19, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

British Isles

[edit]

This cup is the same one referred to in the source, will "British Isles Bardcom" stop removing the term. EmpireForever (talk) 23:37, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why don't you use up-to-date 2008 information rather than a press release dating from 2002? --HighKing (talk) 23:50, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Where are your sources? EmpireForever (talk) 23:52, 28 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Added in at the top of the article. Check here for a listing of teams (the old link was broken - although it wasn't difficult to refind it), and check here for general info. I expect you to respect the primary source and revert. --HighKing (talk) 00:01, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The first link imparts no useful information, and the second link does not contradict the BBC. EmpireForever (talk) 00:02, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The first link has a drop-down box that lists every team taking part. The second link is from 2008 and from a primary source and lists the countries taking part. It doesn't take much effort to check the references given you know... --HighKing (talk) 00:05, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
"In 2008, 97 teams including clubs from the game’s grassroots, top divisions, Russia and France" does not exclude Ireland or other parts of the British Isles, and neither does the list. Can you prove none of the teams fall outside the area you specified? EmpireForever (talk) 00:07, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The drop down list proves that - read the list.

Here's a press release on the Cup draw too - same info, easier to follow. --HighKing (talk) 00:17, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Are teams from Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland entitled to be in the Challenge Cup? The info box does not have their respective flags listed: perhaps the Union Flag should be included? I cannot see any reference to the Challenge Cup being played by "British Isles" teams. UK may be more appropriate??? Darkieboy236 (talk) 08:09, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Northern Ireland only has one side that plays in the Irish league. Teams from Scotland and Ireland have been invited to play in the Challenge Cup but to my knowledge they have not done so.GordyB (talk) 14:37, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Definitely wants sorting out, someone is systematically hacking away at THE Challenge Cup, shall we move the FA Cup, etc as well. MarkFD (talk) 17:04, 18 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Administration

[edit]

Opening sentence says it's run by the RFL but it has the RLEF template at the bottom.--Jeff79 (talk) 08:22, 27 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]
