[edit]

A number of questionable edits were made by an anonymous user with an IP Address corresponding to a Google Fiber connection in Overland Park, KS. That happens to be where Gilliam lives. Is the combination of the tone of the edits and the location of the anonymous user sufficient to determine if the articles subject engaged in bad-faith edits?

We're always careful about WP:OUTING, though there have been similar issues over at her book page.[1] Either way, there doesn't seem to be anything to prevent at this point unless Gilliam does make future edits here. KoA (talk) 02:27, 27 January 2022 (UTC)[reply]
rspeed, I just had to undo this by another Overland Park IP. COI doesn't matter as much since it's unsourced anyways, but given the trend, there's a fair case for WP:DUCK. Can't do much about IP edits unless it gets to be a more common issue, in which case the page could be semi-protected against IPs, which would force them to use an account. Something just to keep an eye on for now. KoA (talk) 22:37, 19 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Balance?

[edit]

I know Gillam quite well after butting heads with her on multiple occasions but she silences rather than faces her critics. I would question if she's an investigative journalist since she hasn't actually "dug anything up" rather just reported on (and often exaggerated) facts, even to the point where she has been caught lying by omission. I won't add these criticisms due to my own (perceived) bias but someone should. Gillam appears to have worked hand-in-glove with tort lawyers to enrich herself and them too. She's authored two books that I know of, both of which have been widely panned by the scientific community but celebrated by the anti-GMO Guardian newspaper (UK) and other outlets. I believe she is no longer involved with USRTK. I know Wikipedia has an NPOV but Gillam is definitely biased against modern agricultural science much like Vani "Food Babe" Hari, Vandana Shiva and Jeffery Smith. I'm sure she'd happily vandalise any page dedicated to me, so I keep a very low profile and the only clue to who I am is via my IP. 82.24.18.184 (talk) 19:02, 9 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

If you are concerned about privacy, and registering an account prevents anyone from seeing your IP.
There's been a bit of WP:PUFFERY removed from the article over time. I think it's fine to say she's an investigative journalist, we just don't say anything about her being a very good one or anything like that. Anything beyond that in terms of criticism, etc. will need sources we can use in terms of WP:BLP though. I'm aware of her reputation too, but I haven't gone searching much for sources we can use here either. It's one of those fringe subjects that just doesn't get covered much in terms of her actions.
