Contested deletion

[edit]

This article should not be speedily deleted for lack of asserted importance because... it is a global financial trade association, representing the central counter party clearinghouses of the major equity and derivatives exchanges around the world. The policies it promotes influence how trillions of dollars and other currencies are impacted at the clearinghouses. --John J. Lothian (talk) 16:07, 31 August 2023 (UTC)[reply]

John, I removed the speedy tag and I believe your assertion above. Just the same, this article is subject to deletion as presently written. Please see WP:NORG and WP:RS. I’ve found that deletion discussions about companies and financial entities are subject to a deletion bias. References that would be “golden” in other deletion discussion may be disparaged as WP:ROUTINE. For this reason, I encourage you to document the heck out of this article.
Thanks for writing this - it’s an article we need

The above is bad advice. The article absolutely needs references, but they need to be good reference. WP:SIGCOV, not passing mention, or, as the article includes now, a copy of an email apparently written by CCP and sent to the Federal Reserve. The reference is currently just thrown in there to, apparently, be a reference, and isn't actually backing anything in the article. That sort of ref-bombing is more likely to lead to deletion. I might question why somebody with less than 120 edits has three new articles to their name, and would suggest more editing rather than article creation would be the best course of action until the editor is far more experienced.
