This article has a good deal of useful information on its subject, and seems to use mostly reliable sources. But it's in the odd position that its nominator added two orange-level tags to it only three minutes before nominating it as a Good Article. (One tag was subsequently removed).

I'm also concerned that the article may not have a fully neutral tone. Two sentences in the lead, for example, to not appear to be supported in the rest of the article: "He has won prizes for his work and has been praised by award juries for his thoroughness and courage. In many of his writings, he has taken on issues of corruption that have put him at odds with the government of Hugo Chávez." (The lead also doesn't summarize much of the rest of the article, which raises problems under criterion 1b.) On a smaller note, I'd question whether the investigative journalism course he designed is worth including here if the only source is a wordpress site--it seems like a minor incident in his life, certainly not what he's best known for.

In short, this appears to be off to a decent start, but there are some clear issues that need to be resolved before this can reach GA status; I'd recommend that the nominator bring it to a point where she/he is ready to remove the warning tags before renominating. Thanks for creating this one, and to everyone who's worked on it so far! All the best for your continuing editing, -- Khazar2 (talk) 00:58, 17 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
