splitting from Braid

[edit]

Okay, per discussion on Talk:Braid, I have split hair braiding from braid, which should be more about types of knotting / braiding, industrial applications, and an overview of cultural / hair uses, with a link to this article. Note, there are already at least four articles on types of human hair braiding -- french braid, cornrows, box braiding, and crochet braiding.

This article will need to be better organized, with discussions about history and particular cultures. For instance, braiding in African American hair culture is a unique and important topic, likely needing its own article covering the business and cultural aspects. I'm not super knowledgeable about other cultures' braiding, but there are a couple of specific references already to braiding in Africa, in India, Egypt, and in other cultures. Animal hair braiding should also have a subsection.
