Proposed name change

[edit]

I propose that the name of this article be changed to Barristers' Ball pursuant to The Redbook: A Manuel on Legal Style, Strunk and White, and The Elements of Grammar (by Margaret Shertzer). 74.250.198.59 (talk) 18:27, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Not always sponsored by NBLSA

[edit]

At the University of Minnesota, as well as other MN law schools, it is sponsored by the law student government. This article should probably be written to reflect that. What about the West Coast? Bobak 18:49, 5 April 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Barrister's Ball at UNC-Chapel Hill School of Law is sponsored by the Student Bar Association. I looked up "Barrister's Ball" hoping for a history of the ball, going back to England, perhaps...I was looking for clarification because I received an email about a different "Barrister's Ball" hosted by a local club that required everyone to come dressed as pimps/hos/cops/robbers/priests/nuns. I failed to see the relevance to Barristers with these costumes. Comments? Clarification?

I agree that this entry is lacking a broader perspective.

Agreed. A quick search reveals a lot more hits on SBA sponsored BBalls than BLSA events. At my school the Ball is an all-student event. Can we get a survey of the actual numbers? Sliderman 21:52, 19 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]
