Serious problems with article

[edit]

I have felt the need to flag up multiple issues with this article, as it fails to meet the encyclopedic and referenced nature expected for Wikipedia. May I urge the contributors to read the Manual of Style and support all content with references, or remove those that cannot be supported by independent sources. The full text of the letter should be speedily removed, and simply referred to with a single citation. If the letter is not significant, then it should not be referred to at all. Without references there is a possibility that another editor could recommend this article for deletion. All glowing terms of praise need to be removed, too, and just the simple facts left in - written from a neutral point of view - which would help an uninformed person understand why this individual may be of importance. I hope this positive criticism might help the article contributors deal with these issues as soon as possible. Parkywiki (talk) 22:12, 2 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have now tried to make some sense of this article by cutting out large chunks of trivia and non-neutral exaltations as to the subjects greatness. I have no idea who he was, nor do I much care. However, in the spirit of trying to support new editors, I thought I would suggest a way forward. Remember: less is more. I hope this article's editors will appreciate the need to prove the notability of this person and not to fill the page with irrelevant or repetitive text. If notabilty cannot be proven - and I don't think it has yet - I'm afraid this article may be nominated for deletion. If Mann is indeed a notable person, this would be a shame. Please seeWP:PERSON for these criteria. I hope by very rough edits may have been of some assistance Parkywiki (talk) 16:49, 18 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]
