Picking up the photo

[edit]

@Coffeeandcrumbs:, I wonder if you could refer me to the policy says that "we usually wait at least 6 months after death to see if a free image can be found and uploaded", I haven't seen anywhere to wait 6 months for using of fair use. Thanks!Saff V. (talk) 10:18, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Saff V., I don't think it is spelled out anywhere but it is a by-product of WP:NFCC#1. Before we can claim that there is "no free equivalent", we have to make an attempt at finding a free alternative. That means more that just searching Google. You could try contacting IDF or placing {{Photo requested}} on this talk page. Stephen was the first person to relay this general consensus to me. Maybe, they can tell us where this consensus was reached. There is also a lot of discussion in the archives of the talk page for our non-free content policy. --- C&C (Coffeeandcrumbs) 11:43, 28 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Coffeeandcrumbs: Thanks for clear and complete answer, You are right, I must do its best to find free photo of him, But after all attempts, I prefer to trust to the WP:NFCI which demanded "Pictures of deceased persons, in articles about that person, provided that ever obtaining a free close substitute is not reasonably likely." instead of trust to consensus that I don't know where and between which users it was achieved!OK, first of all, {{Photo requested}} was inserted into the article.Saff V.
