Article name change proposal & other questionable wording

[edit]

Hey, i’ve been informed that many regard the G word when referring to Roma as a slur, seeing as the article name in this instance is just a different language variation of the word and of similar meaning (such as the romanian ț variation and all other branches) we could for example change it to “Anti-Romani sentiment”, and also theres a lot of references to that word within this article

I’m based in the BST timezone btw so i’ll try to respond to any messages as quickly as I can! I’m glad for all feedback Asdiapod (talk) 02:36, 23 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@Asdiapod: "Antiziganism" appears to be a more common term than "anti-Romany sentiment:" why was this article's title changed again? Jarble (talk) 17:21, 25 October 2021 (UTC)[reply]

They are enough roma groups who take the name Gypsy forthemself, its not allways like many claimed a slur word, by some yes by other groups not. Roma people are not a uniform group, differs by culture, religion, history etc. Nalanidil (talk) 16:20, 23 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]

It really should be named "Anti Romani Racism" that is the overall sentiment from most Roma people. "Antiziganism" is unfavorable as it comes from a British slur for roma people and literally means the same as the G slur. "Anti Romani Sentiment" is putting the experience of roma too lightly and Sugar coating what they go through. Which is racism, they are an Indian diaspora in Europe and they experience racism. The article should be named "Anti Romani Racism" TheSalientia (talk) 22:13, 17 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Permission to move the page to "Antiziganism"

[edit]

The spelling "Romany" is extremely archaic and "Anti-Romany Sentiment" is not the popular name. Antiziganism is much more widely used in contemporary sources. FizzoXD (talk) 03:31, 8 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

@FizzoXD and Lennart97: This renaming was requested by User:Jurta, but I don't know why the page's title was changed. Jarble (talk) 21:47, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This page's title has been somewhat controversial: it was previously renamed to "Anti-Romanyism" by User:Kakurokuna. Jarble (talk) 21:55, 20 December 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Neonazism

[edit]

There is a discussion at Talk:Neo-Nazism#Anti-Romanyism at which editors of this article may be able to help resolve. At present, the article has only one citation for one neo-Nazi group (pre-invasion eastern Ukraine) so the challenge – which hasn't been made yet but is the obvious one – is whether it is WP:DUE to be mentioned in the lead. Is there citable evidence of wider prevalence of antiziganism among neo-Nazi groups? 𝕁𝕄𝔽 (talk) 17:00, 22 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Ukraine

[edit]

I’m going to be honest, I have no idea how to actually edit or I would do it myself lol

But it feels like not include the pogroms in Ukraine in the 2010s is a glaring omission. Not to mention the practice of beating Roma people and tying them to poles in the early days of their war. Badatusernames123 (talk) 21:10, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
